Thanksgiving
Friends, Isn't Thanksgiving a great holiday. It is about food, friends, and family. We all have our favorite traditions and we all get to share them. Sometimes this is an epiphany, sometimes a horror, but the process is a thrill either way. This Thanksgiving I am reminded again of how grateful I am for all the wonderful things in my life. My wedding anniversary is on Sunday. My health is good. My new business is coming along. My family and friends are generally well. And my turkey this year is a heritage bird from Frank Reese Jr. via my friend Doug at Prather Ranch Meat Co. What a treat! Food is such an essential part of life that having my food purveyors as personal friends and known acquaintances is a real gift. Life is richer and my community is full of wonderful, caring people who feed me and my family.
It becomes all the more obvious when we share our abundance with others. Last weekend, we had a friend for lunch. She loves meat and her food budget does not allow her to indulge in steaks on a regular basis. I had a couple of random steaks in the freezer. So I thought, "How about a mixed grill of beef." Now this is not just beef. We had a massively thick Prather ribeye, a small Prather Superior Spencer, and a large Knee Deep Vitellone T-Bone. It is actually more fun to delight someone with such beautiful meat who appreciates so completely than enjoying it myself. I won't bother you with the superlatives, check out the pictures. I am excited, because I have an even better T-Bone that PRMC's Carter gave me a deal on when getting this bird this year. I guess loyalty has its rewards. It is nice to reap them.
Happy Turkey Day, Alex
